Apply to the Citizen Scholars Program (CSP)

First-year and sophomore students—

Want to build community and create change?  Want to develop pathways for learning and work in areas you care about?

CSP combines four courses and social justice work with local community organizations such as Safe Passage, MASSPIRG, Amherst Regional Public Schools and The Literacy Project. The courses are taken over two years with a small group of committed students, faculty and staff.  CSP students explore and take action on topics including systems of privilege and oppression, and structural change through public policy and community organizing.

CSP courses can fulfill various Gen Ed, Honors, Public Health, certificate and other departmental requirements, including 4 of the 6 courses for the Certificate in Civic Engagement and Public Service.
