UMass CESL promotes learning for life-long, engaged citizenship, partnering with communities on and off campus to work collectively for a more just society.


Applications welcome from ANY first-year student or sophomore who has:

  • at least four semesters remaining on campus as of Fall 2017,
  • a commitment to community engagement and social justice
  • a commitment to rigorous academic work,
  • a desire to develop leadership skills, and
  • a desire to participate in a supportive learning community.

Part of the application process is an interview— a chance for the applicant to learn more about CSP and for a CSP student and/or staff member to learn more about the applicant.
